Teacher introduction:
Tamer Higazi, B.Ed. is a seasoned classroom teacher, riveting public speaker and respected educational consultant, specializing in critical thinking and persuasive speaking. As founder and former coach of the Pickering College debate and public speaking team, Tamer led his school’s foray into competitive debate. The same innovative program that led his team to the top of the mountain is currently being taught at schools and learning centres across the GTA.
Course Description:
Speaking Up is a tried and tested public speaking program, developed by Debating Edge for primary students (Gr. 1-3). Not only are children in this age group able to learn public speaking, but they absolutely love it! The program consists of over 30 rhetorical activities, each designed to hone different communication skills. Lessons are delivered via projection; exciting, colourful, fast-paced and highly stimulating for young minds. With fun at the centre, in this program kids will learn to come up with ideas, express those ideas, listen to others, respond precisely, work together, answer tough questions, tell stories, recount personal anecdotes, memory enhancement, non-verbal communication and a whole lot more!
